Guild Alliance - Help the little guilds out.
I would like to start a discussion on the possibility of having guild alliances.
I am the leader of a small guild, The Amazonian Triad (we kill in threes). All of our members are real life frends, and we have a total of 8 (yes we have LAN parties).
The Guild framework is very nice for us. Its nice that we can chat regardless of where we all are in the game, easaly meet up for missions or PvP, share items etc. And of course we have our capes. We have no desire to expand our guild to include any one we dont know.
The problem is that maybe 4-5 of us are more serious and would like to do GvG , the other 3-4 are casual and are there just for the Roleplaying and to play with their friends (for one this is her first computer game ever).
For us serious ones, we are excluded from any of the GvG game play. I would like to see a solution to this.
The best way I see to do this is to have Guild Alliances. This would allow our small guild to join with other small guilds (or large ones) and be competitve against the larger or more dedicated guilds.
This is the way I see it:
-- One guild would host the alliance, be responsible for adding removing groups, and giving out officer privilages to the other guilds.
-- A new chat cannel would be created to allow for alliance chat.
-- Guilds would have the ability to either play (rated or unrated) as an alliance, or as their own guild.
I see many advantages to having guild alliances:
-- Small guilds can participate in competative GvG play
-- Alliances could have a separate ladder, allowing for "wars".
-- Guilds could have a rank within the alliance, thus allowing for inexperianced guilds to compete amongst them selfs (i.e. an alliance could form under 'n00b' and only the bottom 100 guilds in the ladder would be allowed to compete against eachother for the best of the worst title)
All in all I think that such an alliance system would greatly improve gameplay and game community for all us players who still think that this is *just* a game.

Yes, guild alliances have been discussed at various places and I think many want them. We want them part because of our size (to communicate internally across our branches), and part because of us wishing to be able to in-game chat with our other more conventional allies, like the members of ULGG. We can only hope ArenaNet have heard the calls, that there aren't too big technical difficulties to add them in a larger patch/expansion, and hope for the best.

There should be guild rivalries, too.
